The Enemies project: Croatia

Thanks to a long standing association with the the Croatian Writers Association, Poezija magazine, Croatian PEN and the remarkable activists and authors which have reinvigorated the 21st century Croatian scene, like Tomica Bajsic, Damir Sodan, Ana Brnadic, Maja Klaric and Ivan Herceg, the Enemies project has been a happy recipient of the outward, energetic brilliance of Croatia. Beginning in 2012 and crossing both nations, the Enemies project: Croatia continues to curate brand new collaborations in 2015, including a small tour of Croatia, and a reading in London, and events will continue on into the future.

The core poets of the 2015 Croatian Enemies project - Sandeep Parmar, James Byrne, SJ Fowler, Tomica Bajsic, Damir Sodan and Maja Klaric - had the chance to share their collaborative work and give readings in the remarkable, historical town of Grožnjan and at the unique Wood Poets reading, in the forests of Istria, beside a bonfire and surrounded by poets from across Europe after a workshop in Zagreb with Croatian artists.

You can read an indepth diary of the tour by SJ Fowler here: www.stevenjfowler.com/croatia.

Enemies: Croatia - April 26th 2012 at Europe House, London

Five remarkable Croatian poets visited London to read for the very first time and were joined by a half dozen London-based poets to celebrate the new generation of Croatian poetic brilliance which has flowered into the beginning of the 21st century. As ever the Enemies project strives to promote some of the most striking and diverse poetry Europe has to offer and this marked the beginning of the Croatian Enemies project.
